Privacy Policy — WordClimb

TL;DR

We don't sell, share, or analyze your data.
All learning progress stays on your device and syncs across your devices via your iCloud — never our servers.
Speech recognition runs locally; audio never leaves your iPhone.
Sign in with Apple is optional and gives us nothing beyond an opaque user ID (and optionally your name + a private relay email).

WordClimb ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains how the WordClimb iOS app handles your information.

1. Data we store locally

WordClimb stores the following on your device (UserDefaults):

App settings (theme, voice, daily goal, reminder time)
Learning progress (words learned, favorites, achievements, streak, XP)
Spaced repetition state (which words are due, when)
Optional Sign in with Apple identifier and display name

2. Data synced via iCloud

If you're signed into iCloud, the same data is synchronized across your devices through Apple's NSUbiquitousKeyValueStore. This data is stored in your private iCloud container managed by Apple — we have no access to it.

3. Game Center

If you choose to sign into Game Center, your XP, streak, words-learned count, and highest phase reached are submitted to Apple's Game Center leaderboards under your Game Center alias. We don't see your real identity. You can opt out anytime in iOS Settings → Game Center.

4. Microphone & Speech Recognition

The Pronunciation Practice feature records short audio clips and uses Apple's SFSpeechRecognizer to transcribe them locally on your device. We do not upload, store, or transmit audio. Apple may perform speech recognition on-device or via Apple's servers per their own privacy policy — see apple.com/legal/privacy.

5. Notifications

WordClimb schedules local notifications for daily reminders and streak warnings. Nothing is sent through Apple Push Notification Service or our servers.

6. Purchases

Our lifetime in-app purchase is processed by Apple. We don't receive your payment details. Family Sharing is enabled — see Apple's Family Sharing terms.

7. Third-party services

iCloud Key-Value Store — see Apple's privacy policy.
Apple Sign-In — see Apple's privacy policy.
We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or trackers.

8. Your rights (LGPD / GDPR)

You can:

Reset all local data inside the app: Settings → Reset all progress
Disconnect iCloud sync via iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → WordClimb
Sign out of Sign in with Apple inside the app: Settings → Account → Sign out
Request additional info or deletion by emailing privacy@wordclimb.app

9. Children

WordClimb is rated 4+ and contains no objectionable content. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. We don't use targeted advertising.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date will reflect the most recent revision.
